Yaxchilán: Lacandon Adventure

In the depths of the Lacandon Jungle, on the banks of the Usumacinta River, and surrounded by abundant vegetation, is the Archaeological Zone of Yaxchilan, an ancient Mayan city formed approximately 2,000 years ago, and whose meaning is "green stones".

One of the major tourist attractions of this site lies in the beauty of its hieroglyphic texts and inscriptions that can be seen on lintels, doors, altars and sculptures, which tell the story of war conflicts, alliances and rulers that made it an important and powerful Mayan center during the Late Classic period.

The site, which is in a good state of preservation, has 3 main buildings: The Great Plaza, The Great Acropolis, and the Small Acropolis, all connected to each other by stairways and ramps that visitors can walk through.

Through our travel agency, Palenque Mágico offers you the possibility of living the story of Yaxchilan and Bonampak, admiring the archaeology of these marvelous sites starting with a magical boat tour, breakfast and lunch included.
